In 1999, Babeth Djian — fashion editor and avant-garde_x000D_stylist — founded Numéro, a Parisian magazine now famous for its_x000D_unique and bold aesthetic combining fashion and contemporary_x000D_art. From the first issue, then very regularly, Babeth gives Guido_x000D_Mocafico carte blanche for the closing pages of the magazine. _x000D_Free and suffering no diktat, the photographer takes the opportunity_x000D_to create immutable and provocative still lifes the major genres_x000D_in photography such as architecture, landscape, or nude. This_x000D_platform, a place of innovation and experimentation, allows him to_x000D_give free rein to his imagination, to offer an offbeat, critical look_x000D_at our contemporary world made of vanity. _x000D_In 2016, the box set Mocafico / Numéro gathered all the_x000D_series from 1999 to 2016 in 6 volumes. Here is volume 7. _x000D_Italian still life photographer Guido Mocafico was born_x000D_in Switzerland; he currently divides his time between his home_x000D_in Switzerland and his studio in Paris. _x000D_Guido Mocafico has become recognized as a contemporary_x000D_master of still life. His interest in this most classic of art forms_x000D_started early whilst studying photography at Vevey School in_x000D_Switzerland. He initially focused on commercial and advertising_x000D_projects for brands such as Chanel, Clinique, Dior, Gucci, Armani_x000D_and YSL. His images have been published in numerous magazines_x000D_over the years including Vogue US, Vogue France, Harpers Bazaar,_x000D_The Face, and Wallpaper and Numéro. _x000D_About more than twenty years ago he began to develop_x000D_personal projects, separate from his commercial accomplishments;_x000D_these resulted from his personal passions. He explored his_x000D_chosen themes deeply, first with research, to gain an in-depth_x000D_understanding of his subjects. _x000D_Subject topics are varied and copious: in architecture, with his_x000D_series Brasilia/Beirut; Medusa, jellyfish; Serpens, snakes; Aranea,_x000D_spiders; Guns and Roses; Movement, fine watches; Nature Morte,_x000D_banquets and floral arrangements, an interpretation of Dutch Still_x000D_Life, and most recently Blaschka — glass models, by the father and_x000D_son duo Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka. His work has been exhibited_x000D_internationally since 1999, including venues in London, Paris,_x000D_Munich and Tokyo. Various books have been published comprising_x000D_his personal projects: Venenum (2005), Medusa (2006); Serpens_x000D_(2007); Movement (2008) and Stilleven (2012), published by Steidl.
