SPACE JUNK
Coming Soon
For SPACE JUNK Issue One - the “Pilot Issue” - Magnum photographer Trent Parke has lensed space detritus from America’s first spaceship, which re-entered Earth’s atmosphere in the 1970s as debris, landing across Australia and the Indian Ocean. The images are accompanied by sci-fi annotations from Fitzcarraldo Editions author and Sadie Coles curator Charlie Fox. Legendary 1990s author Chris Kraus interviews trainee astronauts - including the European Space Agency’s first Brit, who is likely to travel to space in 2030. The issue also features an interview with one of only four people still alive to have walked on the Moon, Charlie Duke. Original artwork and contributions from the likes of Claire Barrow, Ellie Grace Cumming, Rick Guidice and Don Davis, Arto Vanhasselt and more; with songs created using NASA samples of space, with contributions from musicians including Object Blue and Kelora. The brains behind SPACE JUNK, Jack Mills, is Editor-in-Chief. He previously edited Dazed print for many years and is now Editor of Another Man. The magazine’s Visual Director is Jo Evendon, who previously led the photo direction of Dazed, contributed to Another Man, The Leopard, and Scenery, and is now part of the world-leading agency Art Partner. SPACE JUNK’s Art Director is Grammy Award–winning Brent David Freaney of Special Offer, who recently created Rosalía’s LUX artwork. The issue also features shoots by Clementine Schneidermann, Oscar Foster Kane, Michael James Fox, Chris Lensz, and set designer Rory Mullen, among others. SPACE JUNK is published by Year Zero, the team behind Richard Turley’s magazine NUTTS and award-winning editor Rod Stanley’s new publication, OFFAL.
