Diaries are never mundane. For our Day In The Life series, we’re asking some of our friends, collaborators, and people we admire for a mini-diary, to let us see what a ‘normal’ day in their life looks like.
This month we asked Andreas Kokkino the co-founder of Hyper Hypo.
My mornings usually involve some sort of workout (with or without trainer), after which I have a smoothie and a second coffee out on the veranda while listening to Nick Grimshaw on BBC 6 Music. After a lot of rain this winter, it’s been nice to be able to sit out and feel some sun on my face. The giant pitcher is a brick oven my grandfather had placed on the 5th floor terrace when he built the building back in the 90s.

Off to work, I sadly usually end up driving because I try to bring my standard poodle Wanda with me as much as possible. She’s getting older (she’s 13 and a native New Yorker) and she’s become more and more dependent on me. She is the best daughter a dog father could ask for, beauty, brains and kindness.

One of my favorite things is walking up to the shop already open and seeing it busy with customers. When we opened the shop in 2021 my business partner Stathis and I thought it would be a lot more low key than it is…a cup of tea, the dog, chill radio in the background. And, while it definitely can be that way sometimes, it can get pretty bustling.

Our office is in the same building as the shop, on the second floor, so I’m always running between the two spaces. Good thing there’s a serviceable elevator selfie mirror.

Time for lunch, after going to the bank (in Greece it’s still very much a thing to have to go to the bank), I grab a perfect chicken gyro sandwich from this little place Hoocut around the corner from the shop. It’s the combination of the chopped spiced meat, with the tomato and lettuce and (essential) mayo/mustard sauce…and something about eating while walking. I like to pretend there are no calories in foods eaten while walking.

We keep all the first copies of all of our publications on the bottom of this little Ikea coffee table in our office.

This evening we are hosting a launch of the first issue of PDF Magazine, a new indie fashion and pop culture mag based somewhere between Berlin and Athens. Its co-editors Luke and Jaiden brought all the young Athenian trendy, fashion crowd to the event. Everyone looked almost as cute as the people in the magazine.

When I get home around 11:30 after the event, as much as I’d like to say I jump into bed and read a book, the truth is I fall asleep on the sofa catching up on some show I’m watching. Tonight it was Ru Paul’s Drag Race
