A Day In The Life - Not So Difficult Magazine

Diaries are never mundane. For our Day In The Life series, we’re asking some of our friends, collaborators, and people we admire for a mini-diary, to let us see what a ‘normal’ day in their life looks like.

The summer holiday is a quiet period for Not So Difficult. After the magazine launch end of May and all the accompanying buzz in June, we take a break during July and August. Join us on one of our final uneventful weeks in an empty Brussels before everything starts moving again and we begin working on our ninth issue.

At an NSD©-friendly hairdresser watching a Tati film.

The owner has a collection of dvds he plays on mute for the clients.

Most of the time he’s listening to NTS radio or Everywhere at the end of time by the caretaker.

For lunch, a review

Working in the studio is synonymous with getting a sandwich at Lunchroom Pandora. Only one customer in front of me - which gives me just enough time to look at the 49 cow statues that make up the picturesque interior. I ordered the sandwich of the week, the ‘English style’, which was also last week’s sandwich of the week - an unusual slip-up for Pandora that forces me to deduct a point off the bat.

I received the ‘English style’ (sliced pork belly roll on a white extra-fluffy crispy bread with salad, onion, tomato, cucumber, fried onion and sauce) with a sweet smile and a ‘Fijn weekend’. They forgot the fried onion and the sauce was actually just mayonnaise, making me deduct another 2 points. Nonetheless, I was happy to have the English style again: It felt like a sign, seeing as this review is for the Antenne Books website, and this is the 3rd issue since we switched from Dutch to English. Yay! I ate the sandwich at my desk while listening to the Joe FM Top 2000. The best art is made in the conditions of the normal man. 7/10 🇬🇧

Our first meeting since the launch of Duet

Jack, Jente, Emile and Nathan present, Max, who has a complicated history with team meetings due to a busy phd schedule and sheer misfortune, not present. We discuss a possible concert night sometime in autumn.

Saw the solar eclipse in great company to end the day. There was a big crowd and everybody cheered when the eclipse hit its peak. We stayed out until nighttime and saw the craziest shooting stars. What a way to end this week in the life!

Peace out
