Each piece transformed an old book into a site of fantasy and desire. Fourteen works were built from vintage book covers, each one remade into a hybrid of archive, scrapbook, and dream. For this artist book, Krach chose favorite details from the front and back of each work. By focusing on the small moments, the artist reveals his strategies and motives: to play, to remix, and hopefully, to reimagine. For example, Playing (4PB Red) is a dense and colorful spread where wide-eyed kittens share space with nudes, cartoons, rainbows, and fragments of art history. The work is absurdly tender and sharply irreverent, collapsing innocence and eroticism into a single field.
