The Shy Guy #1, Tell Me Lies, is the first issue of the fanzine of nude men that Benoît Béthume and illustrator Claire Detallante founded in Paris in 2020. This is where it all began: Benoît’s photographs of “boy next door” models in progressive states of undress, and Claire’s Eroscope, a sensual horoscope that pairs each model with a sign of the zodiac. Sold out at the publisher, it is still in stock at Antenne Books.

About The Shy Guy
Founded in 2020 by photographer Benoît Béthume and illustrator Claire Detallante, THE SHY GUY is an annual fanzine about naked men and Eros. Each A4 issue is filled with Béthume’s photographs of boy-next-door types, shot with an intimacy that swaps bravado for vulnerability and offers a softer, more honest take on masculinity. Giving the zine its look is Detallante’s Eroscope, a cast of twelve line-drawn silhouettes, one for each sign of the zodiac, which turns every issue into a sensual horoscope. The characters have since been shown at RAUCH OFFSPACE in Krefeld (2022) and spun off into a limited-edition clothing line.
