Márton Gerencsér is a photographer and videographer based in Budapest. His fascination with capturing places and people began in a Soviet-like housing estate in a small town near the Austrian border where he was born. Though he lived there only briefly as a child, the memories of that place left a lasting impact. An old lady named Rózsi occasionally took care of Márton and his brothers after they moved out of the neighborhood. Not just her flat, but these buildings had a distinct smell that left an indelible feeling inside of him. And down amongst the buildings, those wild, unstructured spaces really sparked his imagination and a lifelong curiosity about the world around him. This photobook captures these moments of human connection and the unique character of the environments he explored in Cuba.
