Published on the occasion of her exhibition at Maccarone Gallery in New York, Hanna Liden'a new publication Ghost Town documents a collection of large-scale photographs and mixed media sculptures, ranging from depictions of the artist herself (masked in plastic bags), ornamental vases of black spray-painted flowers, cement Jansport backpacks, black leather motorcycle jackets wrapped around plinths and a graffitied statue from Basilica Saint Denis in Paris. Ghost Town reflects on the experience of the urban environment – more specifically New York City – as one filled with the ubiquity of concealed behaviours and commodification.
