Simulated Lovers is an ongoing multimedia project that investigates how romantic projection, emotional memory, and digital intimacy shape the construction of the self. Drawing from fictional narratives, gaming culture, dating platforms, and Al companionship, the artist assembles a deeply personal archive that blurs the boundary between fantasy and emotional truth. Through fictional icons and real-world collaborations, Beatriz builds a multi-layered portrait of longing in the digital age. What begins as a search for the perfect other becomes a mirror for the artist herself — revealing not only who she has desired, but also who she has become through the process of imagining them. This body of work presents pieces developed over several years, combining video, photography, and digital media. Each one functions as part of a larger narrative — one that maps the shifting landscape of desire, vulnerability, and the psychological architecture of love in the post-digital age. Simulated Lovers is not about romance in the conventional sense. It is about emotional authorship, fantasy labor, and the spaces we construct — both digitally and internally — to make sense of love, memory, and identity. Beatriz Lamarca is a multidisciplinary artist and art director whose work intricately weaves themes of intimacy, memory, displacement, and simulation. Her practice spans video, photography, sculpture, writing, and digital experimentation with Al, all anchored in the emotional architecture of everyday life and the unspoken narratives we carry, tracing the invisible lines between touch and distance, fantasy and reality, childhood and transformation.
