Montreal-born and Polaris Music Prize & Le Prix Joséphine nominee Marie Davidson has published her very first poetry book. Traveler’s Faith features over 30 original poems which reflect Davidson’s life as an active touring artist and DJ, alongside lyrics from her critically-acclaimed album City Of Clowns, which was released in 2025 via DEEWEE. Traveler’s Faith will have a limited run of 750 copies and will be distributed by Antenne Books worldwide.
Speaking about the book, Davidson shares, “Writing a poem is like creating a song. You cannot plan it, you have to wait and when it comes, you do it. There is no use in trying to be something other than what you are. Over and over, you must get up, rise from your dirty bed, and try to live your life fully. Some might say that poetry is lame, that poets have died a long time ago, that nobody cares. I do not know what you think of this, personally, I don’t believe it. I write to process what is around me, to make something out of nothingness. Here, I share some of the thoughts I have gathered. I don’t have answers, only questions.
There is a part of pain in everything I’ve ever loved. Every gain means compromise, every loss is a chance to learn. Peace of heart in sight, yet always out of reach, nagging me like the pizza that I will never eat. Those who know me already know my style, I’m always laughing with, never at you”
