This zine was developed as part of the Working Knowledge: Shared Imaginings, New Futures exhibit at the
Bronx Museum in New York City. As part of the exhibi_on, we designed a new typeface inspired by the Bronx
Museum, its Teen Council members, and the architecture, culture, and community of the Grand Concourse
neighborhood of the Bronx. Created in collabora_on with the local community and incorporated into the
visual language of Working Knowledge, this work explores how type design can engage and reflect the story
of a community and its people.
Through research, documenta_on, and design, Concourse aims to capture the spirit and history of the Grand
Concourse. We hope that this resource will inspire others to embark on design projects rooted in their own
local communi_es.
This zine was designed, RISO–printed, and hand-bound at Space Type studio in Brooklyn, NYC.
