Tennis In Photographs debuts the third of its new publication series focused on professional tennis at the 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. The issue chronicles the legends and gold medalists of the Games, where tennis was played on clay at the iconic Stade Roland-Garros in Paris. The cover depicts Spaniards Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz, who made it to the doubles quarterfinals in their team debut. The photo of them fist-pumping in unison went viral, emphasizing generational exchange and timeless passion for the sport. Following Nadal’s official retirement announcement, their matches represent the last time that the 14-time French Open champion competed at Roland-Garros. Alcaraz, who had just won the French Open for the first time, went on to win a silver medal in singles after a thrilling final versus Novak Djokovic. Featured tennis players include Rafael Nadal, Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Andy Murray, Dan Evans, Angelique Kerber, Zheng Qinwen, Matthew Ebden, John Peers, Jasmine Paolini, Sara Errani, Kateřina Siniaková, Tomáš Macháč, Tokito Oda, Yui Kamiji, Manami Tanaka, Alfie Hewett, Gordon Reid, Niels Vink, and Sam Schroder. Photos were taken throughout the tournament by leading photographers including Geoff Lowe, Corinne Dubreuil, Antoine Couvercelle, José Luis Pérez, and Daniel Kopatsch. “For tennis, the 2024 Games ended up representing the most important stories of the season,” says Tennis In Photographs founder and editor Cedar Pasori. “Whether it was Rafael Nadal and Serena Williams starring in the Opening Ceremony, Novak Djokovic getting his long-awaited gold medal, Andy Murray and Angelique Kerber retiring, or players completing the Career Golden Slam, the Olympics and Paralympics continue to play an exciting role in tennis’ history and future.”
