RÜDO #05
A collaboration between Stefano Samà of Uhm! Publishing and Black Skew, RÜDO is a new title that challenges “an unimaginative—and often pessimistic—interpretation of the concept of trash,” as suggested by the Italian word after which the magazine is named. In its fifth issue, RÜDO continues this spirit of reimagining by presenting the work of Hong Kong–born, London-based photographer Jimmi Wing Ka Ho, whose project turns to questions of place, identity, and transformation.
Set against the shifting tides and contested borders of Hong Kong and Shenzhen (China), So Close and Yet So Far Away traces my fluid identity as it moves between the two cities. Through images of border checkpoints, reconstructed villages, and the winding river, the work portrays a generation caught in transition — searching for belonging in a city uncertain of its own future, where identity is constantly being remade.
