RÜDO 6 - The last Days

"A collaboration between Stefano Samà of Uhm! Publishing and Black Skew, RÜDO is a new title that challenges “an unimaginative—and often pessimistic—interpretation of the concept of trash,” as suggested by the Italian word after which the magazine is named. This new volume traces a deeply personal journey to Favignana, Sicily, in 2005, following the ancient ritual of the Mattanza just years before its final occurrence. Through photographs, memories, and observations from the harbour, the publication immerses itself in the tense anticipation surrounding the tuna harvest, the rhythms of the tonnaroti, and the fading oral traditions carried through Sicilian dialect and song. Moving between documentary and intimate reflection, the volume captures a disappearing world shaped by labour, mythology, gendered presence, and the fragile relationship between humans and the sea."
